What the app does
Four ways to play
One face and four names, one name and four faces, free typing, chronology. One corpus, four difficulties.
Cards written by hand
Five lines per person, never an encyclopaedia entry pasted in. A life, its turning points, what remains.
What you miss comes back
A missed portrait returns the next day, three days later, then a week on. You end up remembering it.
Offline, no ads
Everything is on board: underground, plane, abroad. No account, no tracking, one purchase.
One thousand one hundred and fifty-eight lives, five millennia
The corpus runs from Sargon of Akkad to Amy Winehouse: painters, writers, scientists, musicians, explorers, film-makers, rulers, athletes. Thirteen fields, from the twenty-seventh century BCE to the twenty-first.
Every image was checked one by one: photograph or painting, licence cleared, source credited under the card. Nothing was taken at random from an image search, and nothing comes from a generator.
One purchase, not a subscription
One hundred and fifty portraits are free, enough to know whether the game holds you. After that, a single purchase opens the entire corpus, for good, on all your devices.
No advertising, no rewarded videos, no lives to wait for. The app requires no account and works entirely offline.

Frequently asked questions
Does the app work without a connection?
Entirely. All 1,158 portraits and their cards are bundled in the app. Only the "read on Wikipedia" link needs the network.
Is it a subscription?
No. One hundred and fifty portraits are free, then a single purchase unlocks the full corpus for good.
Where do the portraits come from?
From Wikimedia Commons, with every licence checked one by one: public domain or free licence, the author credited under each card.
Is there any advertising or tracking?
No advertising, no advertising identifier, no tracking prompt. The app measures its usage anonymously in order to be improved, nothing more.
